Sharjah Number Plates: Categories and How to Check an Offer

When choosing a Sharjah plate, identify the vehicle type and category before comparing digits and design. Terms such as “new series” or Classic in a listing need an explanation. This guide shows how to read such an offer, understand the dated announcement, and prepare questions about a specific option.

What can be read from a photograph

Record the emirate, the visible code and the digit combination. Note the plate shape, colour fields and placement of the lettering. These are observations from the image. If part of the number is covered, do not reconstruct it from a similar listing: keep it as a question and ask for clarification.

A photograph helps compare appearance, but it does not confirm the right to sell, current availability or a current category. For example, “Sharjah, car, code unreadable, four visible digits” is more accurate than “new official plate.” The second wording gives the reader certainty that the image alone cannot provide.

What the 2025 announcement says

On 23 December 2025, the state news agency WAM reported that Sharjah Police had launched new plate categories for classic vehicles and motorcycles. This is a dated official report about an event. It can explain why listings refer to new categories.

The report is not a catalogue of combinations currently available. If a seller cites it, ask which category is meant and which document supports it. For today’s process, check the current service and the conditions of the specific operation separately. Keep the date of the report and the date on which you checked the offer as separate entries. Ordinary category and Classic

Classic refers to a classic-vehicle category, not simply to an old-looking plate. An old photograph of an ordinary car does not prove that the number belongs to Classic. Conversely, a recent image may show a number for a classic vehicle. The confirmed category that matches the vehicle is decisive.

Compare such offers within the same task. If the number is for an ordinary car, do not change category just to obtain a digit pattern you like. It is better to widen the acceptable combinations while keeping the vehicle requirements. Rules and procedures from other emirates may help with general orientation, but they do not replace a Sharjah check.

Why motorcycle plates are considered separately

A motorcycle is a separate vehicle type. Matching digits do not make a car and motorcycle offer interchangeable. In the WAM report, the topics of classic vehicles and motorcycle categories should be read separately; do not merge them into an invented name such as “Classic Motorcycle.”

This section explains the distinction for readers. It does not mean that MULTIPLATES has listed motorcycle numbers for sale. If your question concerns motorcycle registration, confirm the applicable category and process through the official service. A car listing is not proof that a suitable motorcycle option exists. Example: a listing marked “new category”

Suppose a card contains a short combination, a price and the words “new category.” This is a hypothetical situation. Save the link and date, then ask for the category in full. Confirm whether the photograph shows the number being offered, when availability was checked, and what right is proposed for transfer.

If the reply contains only a link to the 2025 report, the historical context is supported but the specific offer is still unconfirmed. You need answers about the number, the other party’s authority and the formal conditions. If a different similar option is sent, compare it separately: matching some digits does not mean that the original card was checked.

Two ways to describe your preferences

One approach is to record a favourite pair of digits while allowing that pair to appear in different positions. Another is to choose a particular ending while leaving the beginning open. In both cases, keep the emirate, vehicle and acceptable category fixed in advance. Flexibility concerns the digit pattern, not the right to use the number.

For example: “Number for an ordinary car in Sharjah; the pair 77 matters, while the exact position is open.” This is a preference, not a promise of availability. Add your budget, preferred timing and a link to an example if you have one. Explain whether the example appealed because of the digits, rhythm or design.

What to check before deciding

Check that the emirate, vehicle type, category, code and digits match in the description, image and reply to your enquiry. Ask when availability was checked. Request a separate breakdown of the offer price and formal costs, and ask which document and official next step are expected.

It is better to record an unknown as a question than to fill it with a guess. If the category is unconfirmed, keep that label. If the amount has no cost breakdown, request one first. If you face pressure to act quickly or receive contradictory answers, pause until the conditions are clear.

Frequently asked questions

Does every old number belong to Classic? No, the age of a photograph does not establish the category. Can the right to transfer be determined from the frame colour? No, that requires documents and a procedure. Does the report confirm that a number is available today? No, it describes an event on its own date.

Do you need to know every Sharjah code before asking for help? No. Describe the task and mark unknown fields clearly. For a first enquiry, precise preferences and a link to a useful example are more helpful than a long list of codes whose applicability to your car has not been established.

How to check a caption on an old image

For an image captioned “new category,” find the date of the original publication. Then compare the category name with the wording of the official report. If the image date is unknown, record that. Do not call it current merely because the listing was recently updated.

Keep the link, viewing date and visible characteristics when comparing examples. You do not need the owner’s personal data. A photograph can remain a useful design reference even when its current availability is unconfirmed. The key is not to turn visual similarity into a claim about the right to buy or use it.

Describe your request for a car plate

State Sharjah, the vehicle type, required digits, acceptable alternatives, budget and questions about the listing you found. You can send your criteria without personal documents. Availability, category and formal conditions for a specific offer need to be checked separately.
